Portofino Bliss

As someone who cruises frequently through Europe for work, there are ports of call that hold a special place in my heart.  Portofino, Italy is definitely one of them.  For the past few weeks, we have been sailing on the gorgeous mega yacht, Atlas Ocean Voyages and luckily we were docked in Portofino for two days.

Portofino, a picturesque seaside village on the Italian Riviera, is known for its stunning harbor, pastel-colored houses, and upscale atmosphere. Nestled in a small bay, it has long been a favorite retreat for celebrities and travelers seeking luxury.  Its iconic Piazzetta is perfect for relaxing by the waterfront, while the nearby Abbey of San Fruttuoso adds historical charm to the area.

During our two days docked in the harbor of Portofino, we visited one of my favorite hotels, Hotel Splendido, a Belmond Hotel.  I am fortunate to sit on the LGBTQ Advisory board for Belmond, and fall in love with each of their gorgeous, unique properties each time I visit.  It had been since 2019 since I last visited Hotel Splendido and they had mentioned the upcoming renovations that were going to take place. So I was thrilled to have a chance to see them in person.  As you take the complimentary transfer up the cliff towards the hotel, the true glamour of the property reveals itself. We were greeted warmly by the team and had a deliciously crafted drink before lunch. The views overlooking the harbor are breathtaking.  And the drinks were amazing too!

We moved to the newest renovated area by the pool to a restaurant called, The Splendido Grill.   The open kitchen concept with the wood fire pizza oven, the fresh seafood display and the green and white hand-painted tiles, china and designs made for a casual yet refined experience.  We dined on fresh tomatoes from the garden with burrata cheese, tagliatelle with mushrooms and a homemade pizza.  And of course, the team there helped us pick a local wine to go along with the amazing meal.

Following our lunch, we toured one of the new suites.  The hand-painted wall decor and crafted touches throughout the room, hallways and public areas truly give it that Belmond touch.  It was a day we will not forget!

As we headed back down the cliff, we visited Belmond’s sister hotel, Splendido Mare, a Belmond Hotel.  This boutique hotel is literally in the main square of Portofino.  So if you are looking for easy access to the harbor but with the luxury of Belmond, this is your best option!

The following day, we wandered off the ship for some shopping and a lunch. It was busy in town so we finally found a spot on the end of the bay called O’Magazin where I enjoyed some delicious pasta with mussels and Anne had grilled prawns while watching all of the fishermen heading in and out of the harbor.  Once again, our waiter recommended a delicious local wine to pair with our food.   We purchased some local olive oil and headed back to the ship.

Thank you, Portofino for another amazing experience!

Hey, I experienced both excitement and overwhelm when I traveled abroad for the first time as part of my further study. I had a lot of questions concerning connecting flights, baggage restrictions, and visa paperwork. I felt a lot less anxious after visiting the United Airlines Office in Houston. I was gently guided through the entire procedure by the staff, who explained international luggage regulations and helped me grasp the intricacies of my ticket. Even though I was scared and asked the same question repeatedly, they took their time. I felt like I wasn't alone during this significant life change because to their composed and encouraging demeanor. It was, quite honestly, the ideal beginning to my international adventure.

What a beautiful description of Portofino – I could almost see the harbor and taste the food while reading this. It also makes me think about packing lighter and choosing secondhand clothing online for future trips, so travel feels a bit more sustainable as well as luxurious.

Reading Portofino Bliss felt like drifting along the harbor with a coffee in hand, soaking in that effortless Italian charm. Funny how the mood reminds me of Corteiz energy too, low key confident like Corteix vibes you see around CRTZ and even CRTZ XYZ circles.

Trapstar continues to set the standard for authentic street fashion. Their designs aren’t just trendy—they tell a story rooted in urban culture. I’ve noticed how even subtle details in their jackets and Szorty Trapstar elevate everyday outfits. The craftsmanship and durability make it more than just fashion; it’s wearable art. Wearing Trapstar feels like joining a community that values creativity, music, and street identity. Each piece manages to be bold without being overbearing, which is why I keep coming back to explore new collections.
